Business Development Operations Associate
Summary
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Business Development Operations Associate to join our growing, partnership-oriented insurance company. This role is essential in helping to manage our new business pipeline, ensuring data integrity in our systems and supporting strategic decision-making through data analysis and industry research. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, work collaboratively across teams, play a key role in supporting partner relationships and drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Pipeline management – Oversee and maintain BD’s obligations towards our CRM system, ensuring accurate tracking and forecasting of opportunities across existing and new partners as well as reinsurance brokers, paying attention to data integrity across all business development efforts.
- Ad-hoc data and trend analysis – Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making by analyzing market trends, competitive positioning and performance metrics.
- MGA and executive support – Prepare briefing materials, reports and presentations for existing and new MGA partner meetings, reinsurance brokers and executive engagements, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities. You will ensure that all presentations, reports and documentation meet the highest standards of clarity, accuracy and professionalism, aligning with both internal and external expectations.
- Industry monitoring and reporting – Track market developments, competitors, regulatory changes and emerging trends within the MGA, reinsurance broker and broader insurance space, providing summaries and actionable insights.
- Pipeline coordination – Be the foundation for successful business development pipeline meetings, including circulating pre-reading materials, documenting action items and proactively following up on outstanding tasks.
- Cross-team liaison – Collaborate closely with our underwriting, reinsurance, finance and actuarial teams to ensure an efficient path to market for new opportunities.
- Process improvement – Identify and implement operational efficiencies to streamline business development workflows and enhance reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance, reinsurance or MGA-focused environment.
- Demonstrable CRM and/or pipeline management experience, including pipeline tracking and reporting.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools, with the ability to extract insights and present findings effectively.
- Strong proficiency in MS products: Excel, Power Point and Word.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with experience in coordinating cross-functional initiatives.
- Familiarity with insurance concepts, underwriting, reinsurance and MGA business models.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface with executives, partners and internal teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional designation (e.g., CPCU, ARe, or equivalent).
