Business Development Manager
Summary
The focus of this role is on (1) Identification, targeting and triaging of program opportunities, (2) Strategic development of partnerships across all distribution channels and (3) Building MS Transverse’s brand and messaging in the broader marketplace. This individual will be accountable for both the maintenance and growth of existing MGA relationships, engaged through the full lifecycle of a program. This individual is responsive, clear and commercial in communications and negotiations with prospects, clients and peers.
Responsibilities
- Focused on strategic alignment – able to understand corporate goals and objectives and prioritize activities that most effectively advance those goals.
- Opportunity sourcing and assessment – sources, targets and triages program opportunities within established economic, strategic and risk tolerance thresholds.
- Pipeline management – responsible for opportunity identification/discovery and shepherding through the initial review for handoff to the due diligence team.
- Stakeholder engagement – effectively contributes to the strategic involvement and communication plans for/with program administrators, reinsurance brokers, alternative distribution channels, asset managers and industry associations.
- Branding and industry presence – develops and implements an effective branding and corporate messaging strategy; represents the company at appropriate industry events.
- Market intelligence gathering – collects and shares market intelligence and insights with internal stakeholders.
- Opportunity tracking and documentation – helps to catalog with technology tool(s) all opportunities for internal and external usage.
Qualification
- College degree preferred
- Post-graduate and/or industry certification designation a plus Familiarity with underwriting concepts and basic actuarial, finance, and reinsurance terms
- 5 to 10 years’ experience with a property and casualty insurer, reinsurer, reinsurance or insurance broker in a role with business development related activities
- Basic to intermediate underwriting and reinsurance knowledge and/or skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Highly analytical and detail oriented with the ability to rapidly synthesize information from multiple sources
- Decision making, problem resolution, and organizational skills
- Strong business acumen
- Ability to work independently
- Strong technical skills, especially Microsoft 365
- Ability to travel
