AVP, Program Underwriting

Summary 

MS Transverse is a P&C program carrier focused on providing capacity to leading MGAs, distributors, and other insurance companies. The firm is broadly licensed, well capitalized, and led by industry professionals with over 400 years of combined experience. 

In addition to traditional program relationships, MS Transverse will support transformer and ILS partnership arrangements, as well as retain risk on select programs. 

We are looking for an energetic, well-versed Program Underwriter who is looking for an opportunity to join a well-funded new insurance carrier that writes both admitted and non-admitted business in 50 states. You would join an incredibly talented and experienced operating team and be instrumental in growing our business and appropriately rewarded. 

Responsibilities 

• Support the Carrier (MST) review and oversight of various MGA/MGU/PA Programs across an array Insurance Lines of Business. 

• Establish clear Program Underwriting Guidelines for assigned programs 

• Represent the Carrier (MST)’s interests in managing day-to-day interaction with MGA/MGU/PA Underwriters 

• Handle underwriting referrals that fall outside the Program Underwriting Guidelines 

• Work with all levels of the MST organization to ensure in the evaluation of program performance and work to establish measurable action plans for improvement when needed 

• Maintained awareness of Market Conditions and Industry Trends inclusive of pricing, coverage, and claims to make informed underwriting decisions 

• Participate in the performance and documentation of audits of programs 

• Present assigned programs’ performance on a quarterly basis to Senior Management 

Qualifications

• Min 8 years of experience 

• Preferred minimum 2 years Programs experience at a Carrier 

• College degree or equivalent designation in related field (e.g. CPCU) 

• Familiarity with underwriting concepts and basic actuarial, finance, and reinsurance terms
