Program Portfolio Underwriter P&C

Summary

We are looking for an energetic, well-versed Program Portfolio Underwriter who is looking for an opportunity to join a well-funded new insurance carrier that will be writing both admitted and non-admitted business in 50 states. You would join an incredibly talented and experienced operating team and be instrumental in growing our business and appropriately rewarded.

Responsibilities

• Support the carrier review and oversight of various MGA-written insurance programs across an array insurance lines
• Handle basic underwriting referrals on a one-off basis
• Work with actuarial and program management in the evaluation of program performance and work to establish measurable action plans for improvement where needed
• Participate in the performance and documentation of audits of program administrators
• Establish clear underwriting guidelines for assigned programs and represent the company’s interests in managing day-to-day interaction with MGA underwriters

Qualifications

• Min 5 years of experience; preferably 8+ years of relevant program underwriting experience
• College degree or equivalent designation in related field (e.g. CPCU)
• Familiarity with underwriting concepts and basic actuarial, finance, and reinsurance terms
• Ability to review and edit underwriting guidelines across a wide array of insurance lines with a preference towards professional lines
